I came across this auction on eBay.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=33638&item=7905519639

I really want a GT Hood Scoop but I havn't ordered one because of how expensive it is to paint auto parts. The auction description says he has 47 of them and will paint for an additional $40. Now, I find it odd that they have 47 of them and very odd how they'll paint for $40.

In addition to that I was looking through their feedback and found:

Members who left a positive: 6945
Members who left a negative: 251

On top of that, I noticed that when the seller responded to negative feedback, their typing style was the ridiculously illiterate, immature, and unprofessional style I like to call "u-typing." That is, "if i wer talking 2 u leik dis it wud b u-typing." Also used all-caps pretty often.

Anybody think I should steer clear of this seller and suck up the cost of buying the scoop elsewhere and getting it painted?

buying online always has associated risk, i use ebay from time to time but you might be better off if you can find someone to paint locally, if you want that product. its just one of those things... if you don't like the quality when you receive it its going to be very hard (and probably costly -- more time than money) to get it right.

the feedback is good, if you look at it overall.... just read through them carefully.... sometimes ppl will give about 100 + positive feedbacks to boost ratings... checkout the negatives -- maybe they got theirs painted?

I have on 03 GT scoop on ebay right now, so far its only at 30. I wont give the link as thats advertising on the boards, but its the dark shadow gray one :p I wont paint it for you either, yer gonna have to do that yourself :p If you go with that guy, good luck, but be careful, I've been ripped off a few times on e-bay, bought a stolen cell phone one time and they turned around and made ME pay the fines. Go figure.

i'd look around at legitamite stores first.. i got mine for something around $100-$125 from downs ford (i think). color matched perfect luckily. keep in mind that if your car has been around for a bit, especially if stored outside, the color may no longer match perfect and you'll need to get a repaint anyways. www.gefracing.com sells primed scoops for $125 under the factory parts catalog heading. they also have some colors, some for $125, some for more.
