I saw a '68 Fastback for sale in my local newspaper. I haven't seen the car yet, but it kinda intrigued me about having a muscle type car. I'm thinking about taking a look at it, but I have a few concerns.

1. I did a little research, and the engines of '68 that are bigger than the 302 its got are 390 and 428 Cobra Jet. I'd doubt I'd find a 428 Cobra Jet block, so should I put in a 390 in? or stick with the 302...

2. I want a manual transmission, I'm assuming the T5 is the most common choice. What are my transmission options? [Manual wise] I'm willing to shell out cash for a T-56 if it would bolt up to that 390 or even the 302.. anybody have an idea?

I believe that's all I can think of for now.

Actually, after rethinking it a bit.. I'm thinking I'm going to order a crate motor from Ford Racing. :P *drool* 514 c.u. engine.. :p way over kill though.

I think I'll go with the 351W.. anybody know where they sell shortblock?

Edit: Nevermind, just found out :P

I think the 67,68 fastbacks are the best looking Mustang body style, and I love the hobby. If you enjoy spending time in the garage or just working on cars, I think you should do it. People here always give the advice of buying the best car you can, so I'll mention that.

Look the car over really well in bright daylight so you don't get surprised later.

Good luck
