Should I pass this up or not?

I'm not to sure what they gave the kid, probably next to nothing because they knew he was loaded for bringing in 2 vehicles to trade off. He had that mach then a standard cab, longbed f350 lifted for his "work truck." More than likely the kid got raped on his duramax because after those 2 vehicles he traded off he still had to have his gma come down and write a 7k check for the difference. They have my info because they asked for a copy of my drivers license and crap. who knows maybe they will call. I should get my debit card tomorrow or saturday if the post office is open so ill throw the truck on ebay.. Tell lots of people about it since i dont want it anymore.

A dealer has a checklist of things they look for on your car when you're doing a trade-in. So they start with their max price, and deduct things that your car may need, then give you a final price. They don't care about your mods (wheels, tires, paint, etc), and I would think that in some cases it would make them give you less for a trade in since it wouldn't appeal to all buyers. I would have taken the 10K but now seeing that the Mach was in an accident, time to look elsewhere.

yeah the worst part about trading vehicles in is that the add ons mean nothing to the dealer. it sometimes makes the cars harder to sell. believe it or not. to people like us that love to modify vehicles it makes no sense but for the general public lookin for a truck they dont want all the extras on it. worst case turn it back to stock and then trade it. tell them you want 12k for your truck and you will give them 16.5 for the stang. take a shot it will never hurt.

so would it be better for me to go trade my truck off for around 15k on an 01 gt that they want 12k for, then try to trade off the gt if i want a mach or something? Its all stock with 46k miles, black, black leather and 5spd? I never thought about doing this since my family throws a huge fit since im 20 and have had 4 cars already, but ive traded straight up for 2 of them so far.

be careful on that one. are they goin to give you a check for 3 grand. and then find out what the trade value is for the gt.. could be aroud 8 grand. which will put you back in the 11 grand area. although the gt may be easier to sell outright. if you are 99 percent sure you could unload the gt then try it. my advice is to try to sell the truck. then get the car you want dont settle for the first thing that comes along. or you will be doing the same thing next year.

since my truck isnt payed off, they would take the 3k off of what i owe, which would put it down to about 9k. Kbb says the trade in value would be 9k, but it is fully stock so it would be about like buying something outright, which wouldnt be as bad. If i had a gt that im only paying off 9k, i could easily save up some money for a s/c or something to that nature and be satisfied with it. I know im being very greedy about this i just dont wnat to get raped on my truck, even though im sure i already have.

something doesnt sound right. how much do you owe on the truck. would you only have to get a loan for 9 grand.

Yeah, I would only have to get a loan on it for 9k, which would be cheaper payments than what i have now. If someone doesnt mind, could they run this vin number for me. I have a feeling its wrecked but it doesnt look like its in to bad of shape.

i can run it tomorrow at work. after 3pm est. i looked on kelly blue book and it says that it is worth around 10 grand undamaged. if it has been wrecked it will be worth alot less. but is that what you want. a lower payment or are you just so sick of your truck you want out of it that bad.

im completely just sick of my truck. I shouldnt have sold my mustang, but at the time i thought i needed the 4x4 for work, but now i moved so its not necessary. I was convinced on buying a gt until my mom said why not get a mach 1 or a cobra like you really want. So now ive been looking for mach's since cobra's here are outrageous. I wouldnt mind a gt again, just gotta make sure i find the color i like and black interior.

dont settle. if i have learned anything selling cars its not to just take whatever is in front of you just because its there. you will not be happy in the long run. if you want the lower payments and a gt to modify and make your own the go for it. if you miss your old car thats a good sign that you will enjoy the next one. if your heart is set on a cobra or a mach 1 they are out there. you will find one. just make sure its what you want. ill check the vin tomorrow. if its clean it doesnt sound like a totally bad deal. at least you get out of your truck and dont have to roll money into the next loan like so many others do.

I really enjoyed my old gt. Just figured it would be better to have the 4v motor compared to the 2v. I think Ill just go for a clean gt if i can find one, ill go check out that blue one tomorrow since its only a couple of miles down the road. Thanks for the help and advice.

alright. If the place with the blue one wont give me what i want/need for my truck, its off to get the black one. I know he will give me a min. of 15k, since he offered me around 16.5k a couple of months ago for a red cobalt ss.

Trading a four wheel drive pickup for a sports car in the spring is dumb, especially with gas being so expensive now. That is why the dealer is lowballing you.

Waiting until late fall to do it when snow is around the corner and when truck prices are high and sports car prices are low is smart.

Plus by fall you could see some pretty good drops in average Terminator prices.

Wait until the time is right grasshopper.

Also, did you mention what you owe on your truck? Are you upside down or not???

it depends on what you consider upside down. My main reason for wanting a mustang now is i travel 180 miles daily and that means im putting gas in the truck everyday. Prices around here never seem to want to drop down for some reason, they are trying to sell used 05 gt's for 26k that have very few options, even have cloth interior. Im just really impatient and i dont like my truck at all

Take your time and make this decision wisely. If you owe more than your truck is worth the dealer has you at a disadvantage. They will try to capitalize by low-balling and not offering what you need for your truck. This will also give them leverage to not move on their asking price for the Mustang.

I agree with Killy that you need to evaluate where you are at before you buy another car. If you are upside down by 4K try to accelerate your payments and sell the truck after the summer season. You should have much better luck... remember everyone wants a sports car for the summer.

Another thought is to buy a cheapo ranger or something similar. A little 4 banger truck will make that trip easy and shouldn't cost you much more than 4- 9K depending on how new you are looking for??? It will give you some time to shop for your perfect stang without taking the daily hit on the gas for the F-150!

Alright. I forgot my friend is selling his honda crx for 1k. Even though its kinda riced out with full exhaust, rims, lowered, and primered it still does get around 30 mpg. Ill keep shoppin around for a mustang until a good deal comes across.

IMHO late fall would be the ideal time to trade 4x4 for Mustang.

the vin on the black one shows as a clean car.. guaranty no problems anywhere. so now you have to decided if its the right thing to do. the others are correct this is not the time of year to trade a 4x4 for a mustang, but it is your choice. what will make you happy in the long run. dont buy on emotion you will not get the best deal possible.
