You guys saw my other post about me honing my cylinders and some of you scared me away. I called up a local machine shop and they want $160 to hone my cylinders. Think this is worth it or should I continue with my drill/hone? Im rebuilding a stock motor with stock pistons/crank/rods with new rings/bearings. Think its worth it?

Just ream off the ridge yourself.

If you're building an 8000 rpm racecar, sure. If you're just freshening up whats there already, do the work yourself. Then you get bragging rights and that $160 stays in your pocket. I mean you already have the tools (from your other post) so just keep working with it until you are satisfied.

$160 is high just to hone, but that may also include tanking and knocking the ridge off. It is still a little high but the results should be a lot better then a home hone job.

Like my cam thread, only people thinking this is a good idea are allowed to post as my block is at the machine shop now.
