hey all. i'm graduating from college in may and i'm debating on if i should keep the stang for the long haul or sell and get something else, like an SUV, until i can afford to buy a new play car. the reason i'm asking is bc my car has 104k miles. its running strong and the paint is near perfect. should i hold on to her until i can get something else and then make the stang my weekend car? or should i sell now while shes running well, before any costly problems happen, and just wait to get a newer stang (cobra, 05+ GT). if i keep my car i know that in the next couple years shes gonna be practically worthless...i need help. any ideas?

also...i had the idea of keeping it and maybe doing an engine swap and some other big mods. but part of me if figuring to just wait and start modding a newer stang.

keep it, unless it will be a financially solid move that you need. ie, paying off any debt & coming back to the mustang/modding game later

I'm in the same boat as you..I'm be graduating in May as well and I also want to get a new car (Mustang of course) but that won't happen until I have a decent job and can afford the payments. In addition, my car just rolled over 120k and I just put in a new suspension (springs, shocks, struts and sways) 2 weeks ago! I agree with stangman in that think that it's definatly doable that you can keep what you have until you are finantialy secure before thinking about buying new.

Keep her for a few more years. Then when your a few years out of college get yourself somethin really nice. I cant wait for the BOSS and the Bullitt.

i think it may be the best bet to keep her. since i may end up on this route...i'd like to swap the auto for a manual, make it my secondary car, and get a cheap 4x4 to tool around in. everyones saying its worth it to just keep the car. i guess 104k is low miles on the modular motors lol.

you could always keep the stang and lease an SUV until you're able to buy.

Keep it...... a few reasons why....
1. since its a 5 speed you will never have to pay big $$$ for an automatic rebuild.
2. You may as well enjoy the mods you have done as they are pretty much
worthless to a new buyer in 9 out of 10 cases.
3. It is in excellent condition and any used car you buy could have hidden
problems.

Keep it and either save up your money or pay off any debt you may have. I graduated college last May and I would've liked to have kept driving my car, but it wasn't really feasible.

its not a 5-speed but i'm strongly planning on converting it if i hold on to it. and ur right about the mods being worthless. if anything they'll depreciate the value of the car. ill tell ya what tho...ive been day dreaming a lot about having a manual, if the cost is feasible on a tight budget then ill prolly do the conversion

I thought it was a 5 speed since you listed a B&M hammer shifter...
what is that????

Keep it. There's nothing wrong with your car. You can easily get over 200,000 to 250,000+ miles out of your Mustang.

its a ratchet shifter. went right into the stock location, no modding...looks great
