side exit exhaust

ive been looking at some side exhaust recently and remembered something about the borla kit having side skirts moulded around the tips and something to cover up the holes on the bumper, i was wondering if i remembered right and if so if the steeda kit has them as well

the borla kit does not have the skirts molded around the tips...just has a hole that has the tips coming through...I honestly didn't care for the look, and just put the tips on by themself, with no skirts.

the roush kit is the one your probably thinking of.

borla doesn't sound as good as the roush or spintech...

also borla doesn't add HP

spintech adds supposedly... but i really doubt it... with a few 90* bends you can't add much power... anyway

just do the roush... the borla skirts were badged SVO side skirts and are only available for the 94-98 Mustangs, not the 99-04... for the 99-04 Roush and CDC make side skirts and the Steeda/Borla/Dynomax/Spintech side exhaust kits come without side skirts, but with very cool tips...

also magnaflow makes the side exhaust kit for the roush, but they also make a standalone that can work without the sideskirts...

yes you can... i think it's in the catalogue... you can also get the exhaust from roush and put your own tips on it which is pretty much the same things... the only thing that makes the exhaust on the roush, roush compliant is the shape of the tips... they're made to fit the sideskirts... although i've seen a couple of mustangs running the roush side exhaust and tips without the sideskirts...

I read in MM&FF that side exhaust pipes rob HP. They said it has to do with the angles of the tubing. They dynoed a loss of 7-10 HP.

I like straight pipes but,to each his own.Good question does anyone have
any dyno sheets that prove side exhaust robs horsepower or low end torque?
