Recently, I sortof damaged the stock 2 piece driveshaft. It was pretty much my fault. I didn't have the rear swaybar on and was launching at 6000 rpm's on 28" ET Drag slicks. The front left tire came up about 14" and the right about 6". A lot of twist in the body and (being in the right lane) drove the car to the center line of the track before it came back down. I'll admit I was startled, but stayed in the run. For some reason, the driveshaft didn't like the re-arrangement of the rearend geometry. So....I was on a quest for a single piece driveshaft. I was looking at an aluminum one from JPC-roughly $600 and I was going to upgrade the pinion flange which was another $200 or so. The aluminum one weighs approx. 17lbs. I'm not sure how much the flanges and yolks weight though.
I was in Tampa the last 2 days and stopped by BMR fabrication. They so happened to have a carbon fiber single piece on hand. I went ahead a bought it. The entire driveshaft, yolks, flanges etc weighs about 14lbs. The whole piece is either carbon fiber or billet. I've posted a few pics (pre-installed). The cost $1100. I'll be getting some dyno numbers eventually to see if there is a difference. The think the stock 2 piece weighs 46 or 48 lbs.
I also picked up the anti-roll bar which functions similiar to the swaybar. It will keep the front tires level at launch and keep both tires planted equally.

i wonder what that does for the weight distribution, since the drive shaft is in the middle? less rotating force means faster revs, so you should pic up a 10th or two!!! for $1100 i should hope so!! what was the et on that run when you damaged the stocker?

It's for the 05. When I broke the stock one, I had a few issues going on. With the way the car came out of the groove, I most likely lost 2/10's. On top of that, I had a check engine light. It was a lean code, so the car was super rich. I've since corrected that issue. I stayed in the run and managed a 13.1, which I was surprised. It was feeling sluggish down the track. Once I get the car running straight and hooking up like it did, I'm expecting 12.4-12.6...still N/A!
