I just picked up a 1995 mustang gt convertible with the 5.0 and I've got a slight squeak/squeal I can't figure out. It starts when the engine is on, gets quicker as the engine revs, and goes away when you press the clutch pedal even slightly.
Thanks

Agreed.
Seach videos on Youtube. Very common problem.
You can normally drive the car this way for a long time, just very annoying.

would tightening up the clutch pedal help, since even when I slighly depress the pedal it goes away?

Is it s constant squeak/squeal or is it more like a chirp noise?

When a release ("throw out") bearing goes bad it typically makes noise when you load it heavily, such as when you depress the clutch pedal. The symptoms can be a squeal, groan or a rumble, depending on the stage of failure.

If you're hearing a chirp, the release bearing itself may be okay and you must need to find a way to get a bit of grease or oil onto the release arm fulcrum. This is the point at which the arm pivots when the pedal is pressed. Even a bit of runout in the diaphram spring can cause the release bearing to push a bit against the release arm and, if the pivot is dry, this can make a squeaking noise.

I wouldn't adjust the release arm tighter. That will result in the release bearing turning all the time. It's not designed for that and will wear quickly.

Trinity_GT I have a dumb question but, how would you apply the grease on the throw out bearing? Would that require taking the transmission out? Mine has been doing this since the day I bought the car with 68,000 miles now Im at 105,000...

Don't apply anything to the release bearing. I'm thinking of the fulcrum at the other end of the release arm. As a test you can try to get a long tube on a can of spray lube and get it near the fulcrum and spritz it. If the noise changes or goes away for a while you've identified the problem. A longer term fix will likely involve removal of the trans to properly lube stuff, from the release arm to the front bearing retainer where the TB rides etc etc.
