Well heres the predicament, I have spent all sorts of time and not a whole lot of cash... But is was what I could afford! Took the car to the track and it was a lot slower than I was expecting. Heres what I threw at it...

Mustang parts list

ARP-
Head studs
Main Studs
Connecting rod studs
Distributor hold down stud
Valve cover bolts
Intake manifold bolts
Carburator Stud kit

Autometer-
Altenator Guage
Wideband O2 sensor/Gauge
Water Tempeture Gauge
Oil Pressure Gauge
Nitrous Pressure Gauge
Tachometer with shift light
Gauge holder (vent style)

Edelbrock-
Fuel pump
600cfm Carb
F4B Intake

Fel-pro-
Complete engine gasket kit

Ford
Racing-
Aluminum Valve covers
8 position timing chain and gears
130A altenator
Water Pump
3.73 gearset
F303 camshaft
Thermostat housing
Aluminum Radiator
pushrods
High volume Oil Pump

Lokar-
universal throttle cable

March
Performance-
Altenator bracket
Power steering bracket
Power pullies

Misc-
Engine Bearings
Cam Bearings
Rings
Carbon fibre nitrous solinoid bracket
Oil pump pickup
Longtube headers
Dowels
expansion plugs
Collectors
Xpipe
custom headlights
3/8 fuel line
Crane Blazer valve springs
Holley throttle bracket
Locking header bolts
B&M 2400 stall

MSD-
8983 Vari-Curve Controller
6420 6AL Ignition box
8579 MSD Distributor, Pro Billet small diameter.
8739 Two Step
8956 RPM Activated window switch

NOS-
Fuel and Nitrous solinoids
Nitrous plate
Two 10lb Bottles

Pioneer-
Flywheel

Rockford Fosgate-
100amp circuit breaker
200amp circiut breaker

Taylor-
8 Cyl universal wire set
Wire cable separators

I am still using the stock heads as $ wasnt available to pop for some nice aluminum ones and I haven't hooked up the nitrous yet as I wanted to see what I could get it to do without it first...

Now the results... a lackluster 14.6 @ 92mph Yes that was my first run ever with the car and after playing with the timing and letting it cool right off it went to a (cough horrid cough) 15.01 WTF I havent seriously raced anything at the track for about 15 years and Im not sure what im missing here? Should I just say screw it and spray the living crap outta it till she blows and save up my pennies and build another motor?

I shift at 5700, Launch by just stomping the gas, no wheelspin off the line no drama kinda boring.

Heres a video of the first and second runs, Dont mind my friends warped sence of humor and his singing voice!

So to summarize that longness...

You're mostly stock with Carb, intake, pullies, longtubes, and 3:73's.Most of your list was not really "go fast parts".

I'd say 14.6 is a little low for your combo, but not too far off.

Yes mostly stock internals... F303 cam, Old Edelbrock F4B intake, 600 cfm Edelbrock carb, Longtubes, Xpipe and 2.5 inch exhaust, 2400 stall, 3.73 gears and a driver that is at least more sane than his cameraman!

On that sane note... Im thinking of around a 200hp shot... I dont care if it blows just will it hold together till snow flys?

Also forgot this is at Race City in Calgary the elevation is about 3550 ft.

Ok went to the track again tonight and played around with the timing, Did a bit better... 14.41 @ 96.9mph the strange thing is that I pulled 6 degrees of timing out of it to do better... no pinging at all before with 14 degrees in it but now with 8 it runs waaaaaay better my 60 foot times still suck horribly @ 2.14 for that run.... Next week...NITROUS!

Just an edit to show you what we are up agains here for weather...

6pm
Tc 18
RH 75%
SP 892 hPa
VP 15.459 hPa
DA 4867 ft

7pm
Tc 17
RH 78
SP 892
VP 15.094
DA 4748

I was busy again and missed the 8pm conditions

9pm

DA 4555

10pm - Is there dew on the track yet?
Tc 14

VP 14.529
DA 4433

Not bad DA tonight but way too much moisture in the air. Water doesn't compress or burn.

Just ran my stock stock auto gt and got a lovely 15.50 at 90. (god why did I get rid of my 13 second New Edge) So I say you have some et left in there but ur mph is pretty good. Should be good for 14.20's or 30's.

maybe you were writing down your exact rpm, mph, and the time after each shift...... damn thats a long list of nothing.... no offense.

but seriously I think youre either using the wrong carb stud kit or wrong gauge holder.

its a little slow.....i have a little less(see sig) and I went 14.6 at 95.1X with a terrible 60foot and i was slightly disappointed. I was hoping for 14.3-5.

Those times are fine, you should have listed the density altitude to begin with. The weather is the main thing that's hurting you...wait until fall/winter to run it again and you'll notice a big improvement(if the weather cooperates).

I was under the impression with carbed cars you needed to look at the total timing not initial, which IMO would be idea in the 32-33 range.

That was a really funny post, man. I think/hope you meant it that way.

Spray the **** outta it, some of those bolts are damn sure gonna make it down the track fast!

Well I changed the carb studs from 2.5 to 3 inch and the gauge cup is now chrome...Didnt do a thing for me... Only thing that worked was changing to summer air in the tires.
Actually Im hoping to run a 100 shot this friday at the track and keep uping the shot every week till I get a big boom or a time that I an happy with!
Thanks for all the responce guys!

The C4 is one of the only things that I have really spent good money on an Im just too frigging lazy to push in a damn clutch anymore! The C4 has a reverse manual valve body and a B&M 2400 stall that actually acts like a 2600 deep B&M pan and Im screwed If I can remember all of the internals (I didnt build it) I have also just gotten a set of (Mickey Thompson ET Streets 26x10.5-15) from my friends Pinto (runs 11.14 at 121. 1.70 60ft with a 4 cyl) so im hoping that I will have enough stick on the line... Only thing I havent tried to do is put all those nice stickers on my car that I got with all of my parts, Hell If the ricers put them on their cars it has to be good for the power right?

Too much cam for the stock heads. Your cam is probably killing your power band.

I second the cam. I have a friend that put an f cam in a stock car. Dyno said 178 to the wheels. the car falls flat on its face until about 4500 then the heads and intake are about spent.

I have to agree guys the cam is definately being held back by the heads.. The old school Edelbrock F4B doesnt help to much either but it is way better than a stock 4bbl intake, I am looking for an inexpensive set of aluminum heads but right now I have other more pressing bills to worry about. for now im just going to spray it and over the winter I may build a 351 for it as I have one out of a 96 Ford van thats just begging to be put into the Mustang!
