I'm slowly grinding down my header flanges...using the pavement as a grinding surface.

I have headman longtube headers and the car is lowered approx 2".

Has anyone come up with an easy solution to this, or is it just shelved as "the cost of lowering a car"? I'll live with the odd scraping before I get as drastic as swapping headers...

So far, only the heads of the bolts are my only victims. I wonder if flanges could be replaced at a muffler shop? I had two flanges welded on to my mufflers so I could drop the center section of my exhaust system without having to take out the section that goes over the rear axle.

I use Hedman shorties. No PS drop bracket, and no grinding on lowered cars. They also clear any tranny you throw at it.

Could have the ball/socket ends put on, that would give you a good bit of ground clearance.

You didnt say if you allowed for the diffrence the 2" drop made to the front shock's, but I would try spacer's on the shock tower's also.

You could weld little steel skid plates to the bottom of them to keep from wearing a hole in the tubes. It would look cool (especially at night) to see the sparks fly out of the bottom of your car every time you hit a bump. The "ricers" would adopt you as one of their own. Or you could just lower your front bump stops.

Some sparks would be pretty cool!
Actually it's only ever rubbed bottom when going in/out of parking lots or over large speedbumps. So I don't think sparks will work.

Lowering the bump stops is a good idea.. I might give that a try.

I was under the car yesterday and unfortunately you can see where it's not just the header flanges that has rubbed, but also the rear frame rail.
