I need some input from other people that have a lowered mustang with an SLP catted x-pipe. Do your cats sit really low to the ground? I can't even have other passengers in the car or I shoot sparks going down the highway. Is there a fix that I don't know about?
The SLP cats on my Roush are only a few inches of the ground. I don't scrape going down the highway or anything but they do touch over speedbumps and entering my driveway. The car itself doesn't sit that low but it is lower than stock. Any lower and I would have a lot more problems. I have read on fnsweet.com (Roush Site) to raise our SLP cats, which naturally sit very low, you can:
1. Loosen the bolts
2. Place a jack underneath the pipe near the cats
3. Jack the pipe a bit
4. And retighten the bolts
I know mustang owners with BBK midpipes who have had success doing this although it seems there must be a pivot point in order for this to work and I can't verify whether or not there is with the SLP midpipe bc I haven't tried it. Keep in mind that in doing this you run the risk of get an exhaust leak somewhere but I think its worth a try. Hope this helps.
Yeah, I guess that's really the only way without bending the pipes. :cringe: I guess I was just hoping there was an easier way. I've tried doing that at the mid-pipe/cat-back point because that was kind of hanging low. It actually fixed it a little. I guess I'll try the points by the cats and see if that works. Thanks.
I have the catted. Ive heard other mach1 owners complain about the fitment to. The guy i use is hella good with exaust tho and he did bend it a little by hand b4 he put it on, i forgot about that. Still an awsome xpipe.
i have the catless one on my saleen (its lowered by saleen) and it scrapes on speed bumps even if i go like 2 mph, lol. It has hit on roads before but only when im above the speed limit and on the back roads.
my 98 gt is lowered 2 inches... the only thing my cats hit were speed bumps and very steep inclines, I swaped out to the race pipes just for chits and giggles... now it doesnt scrape on anything.
