Smog deletion questions

I am getting ready to delete my A/C and thought why not get rid off all the smog stuff while I'm at it? There is no emissions testing or anything of the like where I live (Kansas) so I'd like to get rid of it. I'd never really thought about this before so I guess I really have no idea what's involved. What all is there to get rid of? Will it have any adverse effect on my car (gas mileage, CE light, etc)? Could someone briefly outline the removal process for me? Thanks.

It wont change anything about your car. There will be a hard line going from your smog pump down to your mid pipe that will have to come off, the smog pump itself will come off, and theres one tube on the back of the pass. side head that you'll have to cap off along with the midpipe. You'll see it there right behind the EGR tube and it runs to the smog lines... cant miss it. After everything is taken off, plug up the vac. tube that went for the smog equipment and your set.

Anyone know how much the smog stuff weighs? I'm sure its not that much, but I'm still cuious.

10 pounds at the most... the pump itself is very light and the rest is a thin metal tubing.

Does it at least clean up the engine bay a little bit.

yeah it cleans it up pretty nice, i weighed mine with all the hoses and everything and it weighed 12 pnds

You cant really notice the actual pump that much, but the lines coming from it you can see pretty easily and look tacky. If you have long tubed on your car and are trying to remove the line going to your mid pipe... it will probably be a PITA. I ended up cutting mine in half with a saw.

If you do the EGR dump....remember to "set" the plunger on the electrical unit that comes off the EGR....disaasy it from the valve, couple screws, set the plunger to midway and secure it....otherwise you WILL get a CE light...
block off you tube on the header..
make a block-off plate to cover where the EGR bolted to the intake...

what you see is whats coming off....i pulled my codes after removing all this stuff and had nada....so no real adverse affects for me...

you unbolt the EGR from the upper...theres an plug to undo...when you have the EGR out you'll see that Gray plastic unit where the plug went in...remove the 2-3 screws, pull the unit off the EGR....theres a plunger on the unit....push it 1/2 "in" and secure it, then plug it back into the connector...thats whats makes the CE light come on if left unplug or the plunger not set properly....you'll see when you remove it...

I was looking at the smog stuff the other day and nitced that their appear to be a bunch of sensors connected to the smog stuff. Do I just want to disconnect those?

Yeah, and plug them with bolts or something. That's what I used....just some bolts and wrap it up with electrical tape.

To prove I search before I post....

I printed out the uninstall stuff and I understand it but I have a question.

If I still have my stock cats and I remove the AIR tubes will exhaust come back into my engine bay? Or is there some sort of check valve in there somewhere?

I am taking my intake off again because its still pouring oil and I figured I would do the smog delete as well.

I just deleted the smog pump, and AC on my '95 about 2 weeks ago, I haven't actually removed everything as of yet. it's just sitting in there. BUT if you delete the ac and smog pump, you'll need an 82" belt, and re-route the thing. if you need a diagram to show you how to re-route it, shoot me a PM, and i'll see if I have it saved, and can send it to you.

I saved it as well. I was just worried about the exhaust coming back into the engine bay. But I was looking at it and I don't think it will.
