what would cause a small amount of smoke to come out of the air vents. after the car warms up i see a slight amount of smoke coming out of all the dash and heater vents. it's not constant. i know the heater core is going and i will be replacing that when i get the motor rebuilt. would that be causing it?

Does it smell like coolant?

If your heater core is leaking then it could cause steam to come out your vents but you would smell it.

I have also seen condensation come out of the vents on a humid day when you run the A/C.

Thats about all I can think of right now unless you have an electrical problem in which case you would smell that as well.

It's the heater core, be carful when driving it until it's replaced. U don't want hot coolant coming out of the vents, IT'S NOT FUN!

thanks guys. i thought it was the heater core. damn those things. as many years as ford made these cars looks like they could of fixed the problem. i have not been using any of the air settings at all since i found out the heater core was going. plan to do a full rebuild and replace the core at the same time. just trying to make it last as long as i can to get parts togther.

There's a lot of good info. on the net about how to replace it if that helps.. I followed a geocities writeup doing mine and it was spot on.. very easy.. very informative.. just time consuming.
