SN95 caliper brackets for Granada spindle

Pics as promised. I just completed a set of mock up brackets for SN95 2 piston PBRs onto Granada spindles. They will bolt up just like the Granada bracket using 2 bolts only, no adapters. I will send these off for modeling and prototyping. They should be available in a few months, but will probably take longer. I'll need a couple of volunteers to try them out on their Granada front brakes.

There have probably been post on how the hoses must be configured. Let me know if you have any experience with them.

I used the soft lines for the 99-04 caliper. The pass side needs an adapter though. The tube nut is bigger than the hose end. I used the bolt on tabs off a 95 to secure them to the body. It has been a while since I did it, but I think that the original ones put a twist in the hose.

I installed Granada front discs on this '65 back in 1996. In 2002, Steven loaned me this '65 to experiment with in adapting the Mk VII rear discs. This was the first Mustang the Mk VII setup I produce was installed and used on. :)

I have the facilities to work on the front Granada setup, as well as all the needed SAE or ISO metric flaring tools and fittings that would be needed.

I was even trying to twist Ultra's arm into trying the mod with me as a test platform, @ the BDBIV, inDallas this past July.
 
I can volunteer as well on my '68. Just put the 17" wheels on so shouldn't be any problems! Would probably be interested in purchasing a set as well depending on how things look and work!

I have a set of 99-04 GT brakes that I am wanting to install on my 67 coupe. Does this bracket require any machine work to the Granada spindles, similar to the brackets that were once offered by Daze Cars? If you needed any more volunteers, I am more than willing to try them out on my car. My 67 coupe is all drums at the moment, so I am looking forward to swapping those out. When do you think this will be ready for sale to the public?

I hope to have samples within 4 months. I will post when they are available. Volunteers will be provided brackets and perhaps hoses. They must already have Granada type spindles installed, and provide their own calipers and pads.
 
Degins, you mentioned Cobra calipers in the other thread. It uses a different cage as well, are you making GT and Cobra adapters/cages? Do you know of a 13" rotor that will work?

I will take a look at several caliper possibilities for use with the drop spindle. The 2 pot PBR bracket looks like it will be a challenging design . I'll take a look at the Cobra caliper and 13" rotor.

The SN95 '99+ V6/GT calipers can be adapted to the Granada spindles pretty easily. The SN95 Cobra is not so easy, because the way the mounting ears hang so far below the caliper anchor bracket (cage), compared to the anchor bracket of the '99+ V6/GT calipers.

The next thing is that a stock-configured 13" Cobra rotor has a very shallow hat, compared to the original Granada rotor's hat thickness. This moves the friction surfaces of the Cobra discs further away from the spindle's upright (pushes it more outward).

About the only way I could see you could effectively move the friction surfaces of the Cobra rotors more inboard, toward the root of the spindle pin, would be to: (A) Use a two-piece rotor with a deeper hat offset, or (B) cast a specialty rotor designed specifically for the Granada spindle application.

Steve, do you think it would possible to mount the rotor like Ford did with the 65-70 Mustang disc brakes where the hub is actually mounted on the out side of the rotor instead of the inside? just throwing out questions here
 
Just another throwout, is there a rotor closer to 12" diam that be useable for this app. Almost have to have 17'wheels for a 13'. I wouldent mind somthing for 16"'s. Prolly not enough demand, to develop.
Heck, I'm happy reducing the unsprung weight , as I use <480 Progressives.

If you don't already have enough volunteers, I volunteer as well. My '70 has Granada front discs I installed several years ago. I've also done the work of relocating the upper control arms and fabricating angled shims to prevent the ball joints from binding. I have access to equipment for welding and light fabrication if need be.

I promise to use them hard as well! :D

The "ears" are further below to move the caliper out for bigger rotors. This allows them to bolt up to the GT/V6 knuckle w/o an adapter. I could unbolt my 02 GT caliper and bolt on a Cobra caliper if I had a 13" rotor that had the same offset as a Granada rotor. I need to look into some stockcar hats and see if any will work.
