Sadly, there are not many S197 cars that I like. I DO like that one. It totally reminds me of my precious '69-'70 fastback dreams.


And the louvers are just fine on that car, IMO.

I still don't see why ford has been putting underpowered modular engines in their cars and trucks for the past decade. They should have stuck with the tried and true pushrod engines like GM and dodge did, refining them along the way. The 5.7L "hemi" truck engine in my freind's ram 1500 positively rapes the 5.4 2v in my dad's '03 f150. GM's vortec's are no slouch either. Obviously Ford will never go back after investing so much in the current platform, but man it would be badass for a mustang to have a real 5.0 under the hood again (or hey, why not a 5.8 even?), not an enlarged variant of the OHC modular in the current mustang gt.

maybe it was an easy way to add a few extra miles per gallon? Maybe some kind of marketing scheme smaller engine must equal better gas mileage right?
I think with the OHC engine they are able to churn out some higher hp numbers without sacrificing gas mileage. Plus it seems like they are trying to REFINE the mustang (basically turning it into a land yacht). Maybe trying to tame it by removing much of the low end grunt?

Weren't the dohc's / sohc already being used in another vehicle before they dropped it in the mustang? Was probably the cheapest move to drop in ohc's.
Remember this is a company that wanted to turn the mustang into a front wheel drive car..
