Biggest mistake ever. Ive never done it before but wanted to get to work so I gave it a shot. It was all downhill or flat to work and that was pretty scary. My chin spoiler acted like a plow for the areas that were not plowed. The areas that were plowed were really slippery.

I was going to get a ride home but figured I would take a chance since I didn't want to leave my car at work for who knows how long and there was only one big hill I had to worry about. When I got to the hill I got a running start in second and struggled up it with the traction control on and the car sputtering away. I ran a stop sign so I wouldn't have to stop but had to stop at the top thanks to some jackass who didn't want to go right away so I could coast through the other stop sign. I left the traction control on and was working so hard that it stalled the car. So after restarting I turned it off and just let them spin until it got me going.

Then I made it to my driveway and tried to get a head start up the driveway without sliding on to the lawn but no go. I tried backing up and dug my exhaust tips into the snow and still couldn't make it. So I dug out my driveway and called my brother over to push while I sat there in 2nd gear pelting him with snow until I made it. I could smell the burning rubber too.

I didn't think it would be that bad in snow but you basically cant start, stop or steer worth a crap. Plus my tires are getting on the low side of the tread too. Now I'm stuck at home until next week. Lesson learned.

You are better off walking in conditions like that. Even if you can drive yourself around, the other jackasses on the road will usually hit you, especially if you are going along fairly trouble free.

I'm at sea level and we aren't supposed to get snow like this here or really at all.

i have driven a mustang in the snow evey year for the last 9 years, it sucks, but you get used to it. last year i had my GT and i ran my 18x9 nitto's w/ 18x10 sumi's and that sucked balls but u trugged through it. this year i got the cobra and now i have bridgestone blizzaks and they are unbelievably awesome.

if it was your first time driving in the crap, then yeah its gonna suck. but if you know what to expect and turn off the TC and use the wheel spin and dont get freaked by the ass end coming out on you a little then you are ok. hell use the drift action to your advantage. when that happens to me i just ride it out. i think the problem is that when the rear of the car starts to slide out, people freak out and people almost stop trying to correct it, thats what causes the issue, if you let it ride out and steer into it then it works for you.

driving in the snow is an art and the only way to get better is to go into a parking lot and just throw the car around to see how it will react. thats what i did when i first started driving and it has helped me TONS over the years.

+1. wheelspin isnt a bad thing. it kicks snow out from the tread, keeps them from loading up, and digs down to the pavement underneath. that technique doesnt work on ice though!

Just had a little bit of snow here in NYC, first time driving a stang in the snow... I had zero problems. As long as you know what to expect and don't get carried away its completely fine... Just my .02 cents

yeah, driving a mustang in the snow can be an art. I've gotten stuck on level surfaces before. The worst is when you very slowly let out the clutch, not touching the gas at all, and the tires just start spinning at idle with you moving now where. I've done that too many times, ussually because of ice.

If you have descent tires, it's really not that bad. If you also put a bit of weight in the truck, you can get around as well or better than other fwd cars. Of course nothing works well on ice except winter tires. I'd also recommend against using the traction control. You'll generally do better using your right foot.

I've been driving a mustang all year round for the last 8 years, and we get plenty of ice and snow here in kansas. I normaly put around 150lbs of weight at the back of the trunk and try to keep good tires on the car. My tires this year a bit thin though.

About 9 years ago, when I bought my 88 the owner included a set of studdies he'd bought for the car. Those were just awsome in the snow and ice. My little rwd mustang was going places that other 4wd cars with standard passanger tires were having trouble.

DO NOT drive in the snow with traction control on...

It's dangerous and will get you stuck. Maybe have TC on when you won't be doing stopping and starting, but you can counter the rear kicking out, you can't counter the wheels NOT spinning.

I'm not worried about losing control and have become the fishtail master after moving to this rain infested state. Its kind of fun to drift sideways around those curvy freeway onramps every now and then. I'm only worried about steep hills and not being able to go anywhere but backwards with the wheels moving frontwards.

Someone told me I should get some snow tires but for the 2 times a year I would need them I cant justify spending the money. Id rather just take a day off from work! Someday Ill get my second car and not have to worry about it.

This is exactly why mine is parked in a heated garage until the snow's gone.

It's more of a salt concern than anything else.

One bonus of having a company vehicle, I don't *have* to drive the Mustang in this s**t.

I love driving my GT in the snow, lately we have been good for a few several inchers a week. I laugh at all the Sallies riding on their all seasons dogging along as I roll on by.
