I got my car dynoed yesterday, and the numbers came back really low for what I have 230/260 (mods in sig). Part of the problem was that from about 5000-6000 rpm ive got about a 10:1 a/f and ive got gears which ive been told hurt your numbers a little. Im gonna get it 'chip' tuned next friday, and right now im running a superchips max microtuner. My question is that until the fuel goes rich on the graph the a/f is really 'spikey' and fluxuates constantly from 12.5-11.5, i asked the shop owner (i think) and he said that some cars do that and some cars dont. Is there a reason for this? I will post a before and after graph when I can get my woman to scan them for me.

I think, *Think* that under WOT that fluctuation is normal. I could be wrong.

Keep in mind that autos dyno stock at 208 rwhp. That means that you've added 22 rwhp with your exhaust mods. Some intake mods should help bring up your horsepower.

No its not supposed to be like that.

On most tuned cars the A/F will be between 12.7 and 13.1 from about 2500 to redline. On a stock car it will start in the high 12's and waterfall down into the lower 12's or high 11's. If it is spiking that rich you have a problem.

Boy, that's helpful, huh?
Sounds like the TPS is out of whack. But, first - what kind of tune have you done with the Superchips tuner?

Hmmm. I would think that you would have made more power since you have LT's....

me too, it should be interesting to see what they can do with the tune. Ill post the graphs (before and after) this friday. for some reason i thought id be putting down closer to 240rwhp/280rwtq with my mods, that turned out to be way off.

oh well, guess ill just have to save up and get a blower...

thanks for everyones input so far!!

I never dynoed my car while it was stock but I have seen dyno charts of those who have. The numbers are right around 208 rwhp for autos (20% power loss) and 218 rwhp for manuals (16% power loss).

Im confused myself on the a/f thing. Ive heard from so many people on here that freak when an n/a car is above 13. My car with L/T's was putting down 14.5-14.8 on my a/f, my graph is already posted somewhere here in stangnetland . With the above a/f I was putting 265+ at the wheels with 0 pinging.

I can definately say that the accufab tb/plenum combo will add some fuel to the mixture lol. After that install I dropped to ~ a 13.5 a/f. Im thinking this had a good bit to do with me only picking up 3 "peak" hp with the combo. Granted I did pick up over 15 rwhp and 20ft/lb of torque b/t 2000-4500rpm

As of now my a/f is at the 13.5 mark and Im at 269rwhp. I would like to tune it to the mid 14's to see what I can eek out, but I just dropped almost $1000 into a new a/c coil for my house Dont get me started

When you start getting into the 14's with A/F after prolonged racing hard driving or just a long cruise on the highway you will start putting holes in pistons.

most of that was the superchips tuner, the tuner responds very well to opening up the intake, see my sig

Three companies make LT headers for automatics: Hooker, Kooks, and MAC. I bought the Hooker LT headers for quality. Along with the Hooker o/r x-pipe, I gained 23 rwhp.

I really don't believe this would be the case on an N/A engine.

Mac makes pretty terrible headers.
