So It Looks Like The New Ford Gt Is A Big Hit....

I'm not saying a car has to have a v8 to be fast.. I'm simply saying, for me, I like the sound of a v8 over the sound of a v6. But, you know what they say about opinions... As others have stated it's all just a moot point anyways, as the Ford GT is well out of my paygrade.

That being said, once the now new Mustangs are a few years older and come down in price, I'll be looking at a v8 version instead of a turbo 4 version.

In reality the engines produced these days will not last as long as our old iron engines. They are no where near as serviceable. One day our love of modding cars engines will fall to the wayside.

On the first part, you're incorrect. Modern engines last far longer than older designs did. They go much further before rebuilds, and require far less maintenance. As far as serviceability, that's honestly an "eye-of-the-wrench-holder" argument. I've got a buddy named Patrick, diehard BMW guy, swears they're easy to work on. I've met all of maybe 10 people that would agree with him in my travels through this world. I find modern Hyundai/Kia engines to be easier to work on than the ol' 302 in my Mustang, fewer tools, easier access, quick disconnects everywhere... You get the point. On the last point, you're sadly correct, but that's more because in the not-to-distant future, if certain people have their way, there won't be engines and nobody will own cars, we'll be ride-sharing electric self-driven pods.

If I've got a "racecar" I want it to sound like a racecar

So you want a 4-banger?

The Offy 4-cylinder dominated racing in multiple disciplines from the 1930s-1960s and was still winning in Indycars until 1978 and being used into the 1980s.
