So... my car caught on fire yesterday

Scary thought....I have people come in my work looking for 5.0L hanress all the time...they say their cars are catching on fire..My notch is mostly stock and has all stock wiring....but I get nervous now and then!!

I'm pretty sure there was a recall for the ignition catching shiite on fire.... maybe thats a contributing factor to a lot of fires.

Damn, i have a standard parts store adj. controller for my thunderbird fan..and on prom night leaving dinner i smelled then saw smoke, pulled over and my E fan controller was smoldering nd pouring out smoke.. so i cut the wires and drove home, next day i hooked it up to power(moved controller to where i could see it) and not more than 30sec of smoke it caught on fire, i let it burn up the wires an inch or so then blew it out...scary to think i coulda been on the highway when that happened and i never woulda known..i'm switching back to my clutch fan

you just need a better a better relay/wiring job

I left my top down the other night on accidednt and it kinda sprinkled, my interior wasn't soaked but it was damp. I guess some water got into my mirror adjust switch thing and while I was sitting in my school parking lot that morning the thing started billowing out white smoke. I got it unplugged now, but it made me nervous driving it that day.

Headlight switch harness one 87-88 GT's (not sure about LX's) is known to be an issue. Too small a gauge wire was used. I never had an issue but to be on the safe side I bought a mew harness and what do you know when I changed my old one, the plastic was all melted and deformed. So I think I caught that one just in time.
