Ok, i previously owned a Subaru wrx, Loved it i put alot of work into that car and it was beutiful. It was about a low 13 sec car w/ the 0-60 of like 4 seconds literaly awd was amazing droping from 6k its like 1 g haha. Well the time came where I was use to the speed but, didnt want to upgrade more because of the transmissions in wrx if u didnt know are not very strong. So lots of my friends convinced me to go v8 I refer it to the "dark side" :). So I looked around played with some ideas and came accross a 5.0 project. Decided to go w/ it. Its a 93 I'm having the following things done to it. + a few odds and ends but this is the basic idea.

Engine rebuilt w/ forged (domed) pistons newRings bearings, oil pump, Custom head work, Aft mrkt intake, throttle body, injectors, control arms. Motor set up for vortec supercharger at 10psi (for now). 3.73 gears, disc breaks all the way around. 5 lug conversion 03 cobra's w/ 275's front and back. B-303 cams welded torque boxes, subframe connectors flow master exhaust, X pipe (no cats) shorty headers. New clutch, cowl hood, saleen spoiler and painted black w/ black leather interior.

Thats all that i can think of. But my question is will i regret it?

you definetly wont regret it. but my only concern is the 275 tires in the front. you are going to have to do a lot of work to get those to fit. out back shouldnt be a problem at all. as for a cam, a lot of people will tell you to get a custom cam, but thats really up to you

In my mind there's plenty of room for both - different strengths for each vehicle. You'll miss the refinement and handling of the Subaru, and the traction. You'll love the torque of the V-8 - especially with boost; it should be quite a bit quicker --- once you get traction. Lack of traction and each time you fill that tank with fuel - that'll probably be what you'll miss about the Subie. I like 'em both.

Oh, and there are much better choices you can make for the camshaft if the engine isn't together yet.

just a few lingo issues though.
1: domed pistons make for high compression which isnt very compatable.
2: V8s only have one cam, lol
3: You may not need custom head work. Most american V-8s are supported by multiple companies that make engine parts like intake manifolds and cylinder heads. I know the ricer side is the complete opposite.

I keep hearing things about that cam. Any suggestoins I will change it w/ the right convincing arguement. again as of now its B-303. I quote he said "between mild and wilde" i didnt want something to loud but something nice u know.

Smock makes a good point - what compression ratio will you have with those pistons and heads? When done, with the boost, you'd ideally like to have something in the 8:1 - 9:1 range. Higher than that, and you're gonna have a hard time (run little timing and real rich) keeping detonation at bay.

Suit yourself on the cam.

is a subie considered rice....a WRX?? i kinda like those......no flame. i wouldnt buy one, but i would consider that an import (even tho i dont know where subies are made). theres a difference between an import and rice. import = Turbo Supra (stupid fast) and Rice= p.o.s. grocery getter with a whale tale and optional fart can....

Subaru is part of Fuji Industries - about as Japanese a corp. as you can get; although, GM holds a 25% investment stake in Subaru. Hence the new Saab nine-two - based on the 4-door hatchback WRX -- Saabaru.

Like Fuji Film, that's some good film next to kodac. So, GM owns 25%, next thing you know they will swallow it whole. Chevy WRX and Pontiac Lancer Evo 8!!!

Evo is Mitsubishi - different company; HUGE global and rally competitor to Subaru.

The BEST THING that could ever happen to GM would be to pay attention to what they could learn from Subaru -- it's about the only long term hope they have given their current product line (new Corvette and Mac-Daddy Caddy excepted). Don't get me started.
