soleniod troubles

having problems with my starter soleniod. im going through them extreamly quick (only took me a day to fry one about two months ago) my power wire to the soleniod is starting to melt off the rubber sleeve. i believe i have something grounding out or i might have the wrong soleniod, just want to see if you guys think of anything other than what i thought.

if the wires arent tight then it will start to get hot and melt the rubber on the wire. make sure all the connections are good and tight.

Which power wire is melting through its insulation (there are many on the solenoid, as it is a power distribution block of sorts)? I was going to assume you meant the battery cable, but the alternator cable is a power (feed) wire of sorts too.

yes it is the battery cable

Is the battery cable of insufficient gauge? Stock is 4 AWG IIRC.

Otherwise, I would look for a loose connection (which can heat up cables) or an issue with the battery. The former is probably more likely than the latter.
