Solved my "Knocking" Dilemma

Well, it was my own dumb fault. Rather than order the right bolt the first time, I decided to attach the pickup tube to the main cap by loosening the bolt, inserting the tab on the pickup, and then torquing the cap back down. Bad idea. Not only is the tab material soft, it also brings some clearance issues into play. Either the crank or connecting rod was hitting the tube, and took a nice chunk out. So how can I make sure I get most of this **** out of the engine after I get it back together? An oil change after it runs a bit?

I notched the tab so that it would fit under the main bolt. It's my own fault that I didnt use the proper part. I can't check the rods or anything in the bottom end, as I havent got the lift anymore. I will be getting it back in a few days though. I called the dealership and ordered the new main bolt with the stud, and I ordered a chromoly oil pump driveshaft.
