I thought I was in need of wheel bearing initially, because I could hear a slight humming. I took a chance and drove the car from michigan to florida closely monitoring the wheels every stop. Once I got to florida, I noticed that I was starting to get slight vibration in second gear. More so under acceleration. I put the car on a hoist, both front tires were tight no wiggle at all. Now I wasn't sure if the back tires are supposed have play, but I was told they were. Now how true is that and how much play is there supposed to be I have no idea. And when I rotated my tires it looks as if my driveshaft is slightly bent is this normal, because the tech guy said that was normal too, but I guess I never really noticed that either. but I never recalled it looking like that. I also had lots a oil on the under carriage of the vehicle, more so toward the rear end. Then a few days later like a dumbass, I raced a fellow stang. Got up to speeds around 130-140, and she had some serious vibration from the tranny/driveshaft something.... It's driving me nuts not knowing what it could be. Is it my rearend? Bent Driveshaft, tranny, rear wheel bearings? Can you guys help... Sorry this is so long. Any help would be most grateful.

What kind of fluid is on the undercarriage? Motor oil, trans fluid or dif grease?

Wheels bearings won't cause a vibration like you are describing. A wheel out of balance could cause a vibration. You'll just have to just get underneath the car and start checking things. Check the U-joints and the bearings at the pinion and tail of the transmission as well.

As stated above there a a few things it could be based on what you describe. I would grab the drive shaft with both hands and see if there is any play there first. Do this at both ends. Another easy thing to check is your tires to see if any wheels weights have come off. Whatever is causing it, it's not very good for you car to continue driving for an extended period, especially at the speeds you mentioned above.

JACK YOUR CAR UP AND GRAB THE DRIVE LINE YOKE AT THE FRONT OFF THE DIFF, MOVE THIS UP AND DOWN IT SHOULD NOT HAVE ANY PLAY ]....AT ALL. IF YOU FEEL ANY YOU HAVE A BAD PINION BEARING THIS IS COMMON. ALSO YOU CAN REMOVE THE REAR TIRES AND ROTORS AND INSPECT THE AXLE SEALS IF THE REAR BEARINGS ARE BAD THEY WILL 99% OF THE TIEM WEAR OUT THE SEALS AND THEY WILL LEAK. THE TIRE BALANCE IS ALSO A GOOD IDEA, THEN FOLLWED BY A DRIVELINE OR U-JOINTS.

thanks guys I'll go tomorrow and check out the u joint, and seals. The tires don't have a odd tire wear. so that's not one of the possible problems. THanks.
