I have a 98 cobra,,, and until just recently when I hit the gas, after 5,000rpm, the motor doesnt want to pull anymore, the motor is struggling but the rpms move in slow motion. I saw the same question asked before, but I forget the name of the part?

IMRC's could be shutting, but it wouldn't be that dramatic....they are electronically controlled, so you might have a gremlin.

Or your fuel filter is clogged.

Or your coil packs are bad

Or your plug wires are bad...

I would say one of those 4.

My 98 has begun doing the same thing. I'm thinking it has to be fuel related because it dosen't miss, just quits pulling hard. My IMRC has generated a trouble code twice before, but it has always seemed to work fine and when I cleared the code, it didn't reappear so I think it's working and I don't have a check engine light on now. I'm looking for a fuel filter or pump problem. If you solve your problem be sure to post the solution OK? Thanks

I had a similar problem

My 97Cobra would hesitate at 5k. 2 things. Change the plugs, i'm running autolite 103's. I have an S-trim.
2nd thing, either check or change your O2 sensors. You only need to change the Sensors that are right after The manifolds.
I bet your problem will be fixed!

JFYI, the 96-98 Cobra IMRC's are mechanically controlled, though they are electronically activated by the ECU at 3250rpms...

I just tore apart my heads/IMRC's and you wouldn't believe how much crap was stuck in there

Start cheap, it sound's like a fuel problem so try the fuel filter first.
