So, is it normal on a stock mustang to hit a slight bump at 50 mph in a corner and feel like the car is gonna loose control.....what would fix this problem....springs, differential???????????????

Try to explain a little more ... "lose control"?? Is it just like a clunking noise or tires breaking loose or something???

Welcome to the world of the 4 link rear suspension.

GOOD set of LCA's and a PHB will solve the problem.

Uhhh, no but what year Mustang? You should start with some new gas shocks, good tires and an alignment. These three things are the cheapest improvements and almost a necessity on any Mustang with over 50k miles.

you have now learned about having a solid rear axle... you have to relearn how to drive... i fixed the problem by putting 315's on the back of my car... mechanical grip FTW!

hes refferring to a set of 315mm wide tires out back, usually need to be mounted on a 10.5" rim. the larger surface area of the wheel means more grip.

solid rear is referring to the rear suspension, differential and drivetrain setup. IMO its great for straightline drag, but if youre looking to turn, you gotta put some money into it. mustangs really arent the corner carver from the factory, so you gotta do some work on them to make them stick in a turn. a set of better tires, lower control arms, panhard bar, will all help to keep the car where it needs to be in a turn.

its teh nature of the design of our rear suspension. by 315s he is referring to 315/35/17 tires, they will not fit on your stock wheels.

stock mustangs of the sn95 variety have about a 1" rear differential lateral movement through corners. thats is why through a corner you have to constantly correct. the thrust angle is moving throughout the turn. a panhard, such as the one i have from Maximum Motorsports as well as quality rear Lower Control Arms helps cure the problem you are experiencing.

I asked a very similar question in a different thread, about what causes that rearend shake when hitting seams in a jughandle, for example.

on a side note about the C/Os... i do hear they are noisy, however i will be grabbing them in the next 1-4 months (depending on how much the garage costs) and have many idea of how to insulate them. but i mainly only hear the rear is loud, never really a lot about the front... but either way i have ideas to eliminate noise.

coilovers themselves arent loud. they will make other suspension noises amplified. i had to deal with reinstalling them after the shop that put them in couldnt read directions.

i am working on ways to fix any other noises as well. mostly with sound deadening material in strategic places.
