i was considering stepping down to a 3.55 gearset. I want to rap out gears longer and my first gear is useless and i was some fun on the street.
also how much slower do u think it would make me at the track??

On a 26" tire the 3.90 will be better for your car at the track. Should have you hitting the traps at a better RPM.

I went from 3.55 to 3.90 and gained 1-1.5 mph. It lowerd my ET as well, dont remeber how much. Want to say close to .2.

I have 3.55's It depends on the 5 spd you have, some have different 1st gear ratios's, With the 3.55's my first gear is almost worthless I only stay it it for a few seconds. It sounds like you have a trans with the 2.95 or 3 something first gear. I drive mine on the street mostly a weekend car, but I do hit the freeways, I wouldnt want any more gear than I have.

i have the 2.95 gearset.... it helped a bit with first. but i took a ride in a buds car with 3.55s and i duno what it was, but i just loved how it felt. Still gave u the sotp but the gears lasted longer and just overall felt nice.
