when I turn 1 way seems fine but when I turn the wheel the other it seems something under the hood sounds like its making some kind of a click sound

COuld be a rag joint loading up. Have your sig-other turn the wheel while you're under the hood listening. You can hold the steering shaft after rag joints while the wheel is lightly turned to help find slop.
It can also be something like an inner or outer tie rod.
