Hmm.. Never heard of it (and I am from So. Cal).

I do know of the "San Diego Special" Mustangs. They had V6s. They have "SDS" on the front fenders.

Here we go..

Looks like it was a promotion to push the V6s..

This auction is for a very HARD TO FIND 2006 Ford Mustang SCS sales sheet specific to the Mustang Southern California Special Edition coupe, of which only 600 copies were to be built! The SCS model featured 9" silver racing stripes, chrome exhaust tip, "Pony" package (17" aluminum wheels, GT wing, "corral" grille and foglamps, and classic Mustang side badges), interior upgrade package (including the MyColor display and chrome accents), and a special SCS "gas cap" rear badge!

There is also another variation in Oklahoma/Texas:

No, these variations are done at Ford for various regions around the country. The Stampede is a better documented package done in the Oklahoma area a year or two ago. Or, the Grabber Orange 08 Shelby GT's for SoCal when the rest of the country only got 08 Shelby GT's in Vista Blue. Or, go way back in time when Ford did the Twister Special on '70 Mach 1's for the Wichita area or the High Country Specials in '68 for the Denver Region. None of these were dealer converted cars - all are regional packages done at Ford.

Now, I have seem some pretty cheesy dealer packages, but the SCS is not one of them.
