So, after almost 2 years of abuse, my Spec 3.5 gave up the ghost at the track tonight. This is a 28 spline, sprung hub, 4 puck disk and heavy duty pressure plate, mated to an aluminum flywheel, in front of my Viper T56 trans.. I was on a set of MT ET Street's, and cut a 1.71 60ft coming out of the hole.. as I go to grab second.. it grinds it's @ss off.. Come back around.. and it's making a lot of grinding noise when I try to engage the clutch.. Once in gear, however, it's fine.. so, I think I partially broke some of the material on one of the pucks.. Luckily, I was able to drive the car home..

Anyway.. what do you guys suggest for a replacement? The 4 puck was a bit much for the power that I'm making.. but, I'm fixing to drop in my built short block.. so those numbers will climb to upper 500's at least.. Again.. I need a 28 spline disc that will work with a T56.

First question? How many miles did you have on the Spec clutch?
I personally will never buy another Spec for as long as I live. The last one I put in lasted exactly 12,003 miles and it was toast. All Spec could say was it must have been your car our clutches don't fail that quick.
Interesting though that I got 100,036 miles out of the factory installed one which I beat profusely at the track. I am now currently running a King Cobra clutch with Fidanza aluminum flywheel which is a very nice set up.

Guys.. I think the clutch held up well to almost 2 years of drag racing at the 400whp level.. Not really complaining about the service life..

I am putting a Centerforce DFX in my car right now.. replacing an Anderson Hi Rev with 4500miles on it since its way too stiff pedal pressure for daily driving. the Anderson is nice at the track though... the DFX has more like stock pedal pressure from what I hear.

DFX, holds the power great and has a pretty light pedal.
