My friend may be getting a new intake for his 87, and I was wondering if his upper and my upper are the same. Mine is spray bombed gloss black, I would like to try to polish my friends old upper and slap it on my car. I once put a upper intake on my car (Pro Comp plastic upper) that was made for Speed Density only (I didn't know this before I put it on my car) well, my car ran like total crap, sputtered at 500 rpm at idle. Would I be ok with the stock 87 upper and not have any problems?
Thanks guys,
Jesse

Ya sputtered because the ProComp box upper is meant for SC applications...deffinately a big :nonono: putting that on a N/A car.

BTW: Actually, the '86 upper and TB are both unique among the 5.0 HO's. :) The TB is 58mm instead of 60mm. And, the upper is more oriented for low-end and mid-range instead of the mid-range/high-end range than the 87-93 upper is oriented for. Also, '86's have flat top pistons and E6 heads.
