I have a 1992 lx 5.0 with 3:73 gears. my speedo is out about 20 km/h (canadian car if that makes a diffrence?) I heard I need a 23 tooth speedo gear? is this right? is this the gear in the tranny? and where can I get one?
for the most accurate combination with your gears you need a 7 tooth gear in the tailshaft and a 20 tooth at the cable. unless your tire diameter is not what it would be on stock pony wheels.
if you want to do the gear in the tailshaft, then yes. if it's just the gear at the cable, then just removing the cable from the driver side of the tranny will do. It's more accurate though if you change the gear in the tailshaft as well.
no problem. but I think with 3.73s you can still get pretty close with just the speedo gear. with 4.10s though I def need the 6 tooth gear in the tranny.
