I just swapped my 91 GT from an auto to a stick. I had a C-6 tranny in it and now have. A tremec 3550. My problem is that the speedo sensor that goes in my C-6 seems to stick out of the tremec too far. With the speedo cable connect I cannot install the bracket to the trans that holds up my h-pipe. It hits the cable before its even tightened up. So my question is, is the T-5 or Tremec speedometer sensor shorter then one for a C-6??? Here is a link to the correct on I need but it looks the same as what I have. 1983-93 Mustang Speed Sensor by Ford at LRS - Same Day Shipping!. Doesn't look any shorter. Thanks for any help guys.

I don't have pics yet. But yes new gear I ordered looks the same as the one I took out except the new one is for 3:55 gears. Im assuming the speedo will work but knave to unbolt the cross member and tranny mount to fit the cable in then can't bolt mount back up. Didn't want to put the car in gear and run it with mounts off and jack holding up the tranny.

Sensor just seems too long. Unless I need a different bracket that holds the h-pipe up? Im not sure.

I have a Tremec 3550 in my MUstang: forget about the muffler support bracket with a Tremec 3550. It just will not fit.The support rods on the H pipe gets in the way. You will have to cut the driver's side H pipe support rod in order to get the VSS sensor and speedo cable to fit.

The mufflers & H pipe will fit just fine if you align it all very carefully so that it doesn't rub, and then tighten up the H pipe to muffler joints. Watch the muffler & tailpipe so the it does not rub against the tires, fuel lines or body. Align it correctly, and you will not have any leaks or problems.

When I converted from an AOD to Tremec 3550 5 speed manual I had to do just like Joe Richker did to get my VSS to fit also! It was pretty much the only way to get it to fit. But it does work.

Thanks for the info! So let me ask this. Can I just the left side of the muffler support bracket and keep the right side so the h-pipe is held up somewhat? I think that should work. I just dont like the idea of the rubber hanger grommets holding up the whole exhaust from the mufflers. Ive had them break and I have dumps and no tailpipes so they would just fall to the ground I would assume if that happened and not get caught by the rear axle.

Just recently a muffler shop modified the right hanger on the H pipe to work on the hanger @ the transmission support bracket.

But before then I had ran it for the last 7 years, unhooked with no problems.
