I'm thinking about changing up the look of my headlights and taillights. First of all how many cans of paint can do you need to smoke the taillights, depending on the number of coats?

Also I currently have the non-smoked all clear headlights, and I hate the look of them in direct sunlight, the amber bulb sticks out, and not to mention on the right side it looks faded from what looks like when someone wiped out the condensation, as it is wiped marks. Is it possible to open up the light and wipe it out, and then spray it with tint. Or should I just go with the ones with black housing or the smoked lenses?

I was able to do my rear side reflectors and taillights with 1 can of VHT Nightshades. The Key is to make sure that you go over the lenses with a few clear coats. Otherwise they just look hazzy. I didn't do the front headlights. I went ahead and bought some smoked clearcorner headlights off ebay. I was very happy with the way they look. Here ya go...

I did my tail lights and 3rd brake light with 1 can (it took the entire can) and like snowboarder said use some clearcoat.

This is what worked for me:
Wipe lights down w alcohol and air dry
2 light coats
Wait till those get tacky
1 light coat clearcoat

and just repeat with the coats untill you reach how dark you want.

I would get some cheap removable tail light cling vinyl tint off ebay.
I have been pulled over and only avoided a ticket because I showed the officer bthat I could pull it off, I got away with a warning
