I have a fairly fast pc (p4 2.0, 1 gig of ram) The spyware was slowing it down bigtime.
A friend sent me this page: http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=35407
I followed the directions and its like a brand new pc.
Then I tried this program:
http://www.trendmicro.com/en/products/desktop/as/evaluate/overview.htm
it found 51 more spyware
Now its blazing fast.
Thought I share.

Yup, been there, done that. I have a teenager still at home; that likes to hit many, many chat pages and games pages. Running SpyBot S&D, Ad-Aware SE and Microsoft Windows Defender (the "beta-beta" version of what was originally Microsoft Anti-Spyware) on all the machines- except the Linux box The full-race McAffee AV also does quite a bit of anti-spyware stuff. Keep them all updated regularly (weekly at the very least)!!!!!

Yeah, right!

I remember, about 4 years ago, when the "Tucson" project started leaking out to the semi-public, how it was gonna be soooooooooooo much better than crappy old Windoze 9(x); "Because it's on the Win2000 kernel"!

XP proliferated; and so has the 2000/XP malware. Wanna bet history won't repeat itself? How much?

Well we can all hope that vista takes care of the problem, but you have to admit that sp2 has helped a lot. But there are always people figuring out new ways to make our lifes hell.
