Hi...I'm new to this site. I have a 2001 Gt and I was wondering if anyone has had the same problem that I have. When i am driving down the road something in the back end of my car sqeeks. It gets louder when I hit a bump and I only hear it when my car is moving. It started around the time I got new brakes but it seems more like a suspension problem to me. I was just hoping that someone might have had the same thing happen to their car and that they could tell me what it is. Its driving me nuts. Thanks.

Welcome. I know that sometimes that the suspension, usually the strut in mustangs squeek especialy when they get old. If you really hate it i suggest buying new struts and seeing if that is the problem. While your doing that you could just get a lowering kit and lower it at the same time. Thats what i would do.
Try pushing down on the trunk a few times and if it squeeks when it bounces...theres your problem.

Check or have checked the Ebrake cable. I bought a used 2001 GT that had a squeek on the drivers side rear wheel well, or thats where it sounded like it was coming from. Service shop tightened it up or whatever and buhbye squeek.

Now if only I could get the mouse in my dash to shut up lol.

your rear control arms could also be loose. i had a squeek a while back and it was my rear upper control arms loose. i could bounce the trunk and hear it.

Your car is a little young for worn out ball joints but it could be the culprit. It was on my 99 Stang. New balljoints = no squeak - yippee !!!
