Actually the stock cam is not to shabby. NMRA's factory stock run high 11s with that profile. Of course they are purpose built race cars but they still put 300 rwhp + to the tires with a small cam. Even in full weight cars the stock cam performs deep into the 12s with other good parts.

i'll second that. look at the times those guys are running. bob cosby is hitting 117mph.

Mike, don't worry, you'll get there. it's just a matter of time. practice makes perfect. we all need more practice. i probably have 100-120 passes total and i'm still learning every time i go. you'd better get to the track soon though, because i might be going back may 1st. i'll have to try revving first a little more to see the results.
i was powershifting into 4th gear. i'm new to powershifting, so that was the only gear i could really concentrate on doing that. the other 2 shifts come a little quick. my 3rd gear used to grind, but seems as though that's went away.

yup, 50lbs of fuel.

BTW, remember i was hoping i wasn't making a bad decision going with the 27" ET Streets. looks like i made a pretty good decision there after all.

oh yeah as far as the powershifting goes...

i did like you do, i started doing 4th only, you have time to mentally prepare for it, then i did second every once in a while, tried 1st once.....that hairy.

and i don't know how easy it'll be to cut a 1.6x 60' with 103 at the traps, once you get that low, you almost need more power to pull through the 60' in less than 1.70 seconds, i always hovered around the 1.78-1.8 range like you, the only time i cut low 1.7x was on spray.

you'll score a 12.9x for sure, but a 1.6, thats a little further away i think.

awesome times, proving a low mod car, can tear the track up!

Its definately hooking good... but does it fall on its face (I doubt it). If so it might be hooking too hard and bogging the car down (again with 4.30s I doubt it). I figured Id check all angles!

Ask 93Reefnotch (or ERnotch) he was going 1.69s with a 102-103 mph traps. I pulled a 1.72 without touching the suspension and NO weight transfer...

That right there was a spinning 1.758, this is why I think he is shifting before the 60'... he has the power and the suspension (looks like the traction too) to run in the high 1.6s! With a 1.6 he has a 12.8!

You'll probably hit the 12's before me my schedule sucks right now
just too much going on. It's my b-day & my two little girls birthday at the end of this month (21st anna the youngest turning 2, 27th is mine, 28th is Julia my oldest turning 5). I wish you the best of luck though man. If I were you I'd focus on trying to power shift the 1-2 shift & the 3-4 shift & granny the 2-3. Just my opinion

help me out rickki. how do i lower it? pinion angle is at -2 or -3*, i can't remember. also, anything lower than 13 or 14 lbs tire pressure, traction seems to disappear some. maybe i should try higher and see what happens. maybe i should head out to a back road lay a patch then measure it.

happy early birthday mike. kids too. i know all about the busy schedule between work and family. my daughter turns 8 may 20th. julia starting school this september? just wait, you'll get to help with homework and projects more and more as they get older too. powershifting is probably my best bet right now. how about sidestepping while i powershift.

Side stepping is when you engage the clutch by taking your foot off the clutch pedal to the left instead of straight back. It is the quickest way for the clutch to be engaged. The pedal snaps out very quick so make sure you got that gear.

If you plan on using slicks and you want the clutch to last atleast a little while I would step up a notch. Really depends on what your intentions are with the car.

I had the same clutch. Daily driver that see's alot of track use. King Cobra lasted quite a while with drag radials. Started using slicks and it didn't take long before she was giving in. Centerforce now.

i'm not saying its impossible!
not by any means, i'm just saying lowering the 60' once you're already running 1.7s is harder than people think.

i've seen high 1.6 and really low 1.7s on 103-106mph traps too, but its not common and i'm just saying, don't expect 1.6s just like "that" its going to be hard and take a bit of setting up and 'testing and tuning' haha...

as for that 1.72, killer short time right there...
if you can run 12.80s at 103mph, thats milking it good!

best of luck axe, awesome launch pics, what 60' was that pic of?

i wish i had my 1.70' on picture

i totally agree, but on the flipside, i've been running a stock repalcement i bought from D&D Motorsports about 2 years ago for $99. it has probably seen 50-60 passes(guesstimate) dropping the clutch anywhere from 4000-5500 rpms. i know it's a ticking time bomb, but it just keeps taking the punishment. i don't get it.

what_stanger? i read you loud and clear. i'm starting to see how much more difficult it is to lower my times. once your times start dropping, the harder it is to go even quicker. same with 60'.
BTW, i'm not sure what my 60' was in that pic. i don't know who the photographer was, someone from SSOTN. they posted alot of pics from the event on thier website.

Okay I am going to suggest you try something... If you do this already, then I guess this is pointless but here goes...

When you launch, do you bring the RPMs to the launch RPM and drop the clutch? If so I suggest this. The next time you stage dont bring the RPM up... and when the 1st yellow comes on start into the throttle. At the second yellow put your foot to the floor and dump the clutch at the desired RPM. I dont do this because I race on a pro tree but if I run a full tree I would be launching this way! Try launching different ways... see if maybe there is some left!
