Lately I have been haveing stalling problems. I don't know what is causing it. I start the car and it dies. I have to keep my foot on the gas just a little to prevent this from happening. I've tried to take it to a mechanic twice and both times the car stopped acting up (Of course). My check engine light is on. I found out from the mechanic the first time that it was an o2 sensor. I never got it fixed (Long story). I have an off-road x-pipe with MIL elims.

So my question is how can an o2 sensor be bad if they aren't really being used anyway? And if the o2 sensor is bad, can this be the reason for the car to be stalling?

Another mechanic told me that with no cats, that is why the check engine light is on. He said that could be the reason for the stall. He doesn't seem to believe that the MIL elims can even work, because the computer isn't callibrated to run with no cats.

In addition to the other questions, can I fix this without having to put cats back on. I really don't want to do this. I love the sound that my car has. Please help, and reply whatever you can.

Thank you
