I have a 8 cylinder 88 gt mustang and a problem that i can't seem to find what the cause is. Every so often whenever it is hot out my car dies. After waiting a good 30-45 minutes, it'll start up. I've read on some forums about the TFI module not working when it gets hot. I relocated it to a place where it gets some air flow instead of it sitting on the hot engine. I have an MSD ignition module with MSD coil. The MSD ignition module is located underneath the dash on the passenger. I'm taking it next week to get a diagnostic done on it (again) and I'm going to have them run the car for a good hour. What could be the problem here?

Need more info.

1.) Engine Temps when shuts off
2.) Pull codes
3.) Did this happen before or any MSD install

1.) Engine Temps when shuts off
engine temps are between 160-180

2.) Pull codes
I don't have a scanner in the car at the time of stalling, but I have a new ignition harness that has a light on it. When the key is in the run position the light will blink a certain number of times for different problems. Mine does not do this. So am I to assume no problems?

3.) Did this happen before or any MSD install
I cannot remember if this happened before.

Is the check engine light on? You can check codes anytime not just during a problem. You need to do this first and see what the code is.
