I've been using an LM-1 for over a year and I am very happy with it. To make it worthwhile I'd get the RPM converter so you can log RPMs and AFR. YOu can record with the LM-1 and download to your PC or use a laptop for recording.

I have the LM 1 and rpm converter too. Its awesome but when I load my datalog to my computer the rpm is all over the place and not what it should be. Does yours do this?

It did at one time but I messed with it a little. Not sure what fixed it but make sure your RPM selection for the converter is correct. If this does not work, try going through the manual RPM calibration (see the instructions but this is where you hold the engine at 2K for 10 sec or so while the red LED flashed, then steadies). If these do not work you may want to call Innovate. They have good tech support and pick up the phone quick.

Everyone says if you don't get one that datalogs it usless why would that be. You would still be able to read or have you friend read the meter as your driving. I can see why it wouldn't be as convienent but for someone on a budget I can't see it being that bad?

www.plxdevices.com is their website. I bought mine from streetrays.com, they had the best price on them.

Things happend so fast, you would not get an accurate read by someone looking at it while you are winding the engine up so fast. Peaks and dips happen so quick, you'd never see them w/ out datalogging.

I see thanks I guess I'll have to save for the extra 200 to go with the datalogging feature.

I use the Innovative unit. It helped me a lot when I strapped a turbo to the engine. I was able to dial in the correct fuel pressure to get the car to idle and stop running so rich. It was running so rich it would make you sick. Nice tool to have and means less wasted time on a dyno.

PLX
LM-1
WMS??

Which is the best for self tuning?? I am willing to buy a complicated unit as long as their is a forum devoted to it, I can learn how to use it. But where can I buy a megasquirt?
