Standard vs. offset axle bearings: INFO Only

Hi,

Not a question, just something I learned. Had to hit two stores as I sought a knowledgable clerk who understood what kind of axle bearings the 8.8 took.



The pic on the left is a standard Timken bearing, and the green piece of metal to the left is the seal (upside down). The much LARGER bearing on the right is the integrated seal + bearing, which moves the bearing farther inboard on the axle, so rather than replace an axle, you can move the wear pattern to get more life.

If you're putting new axles in, you want the bearing on the left.

Hope this saves someone some legwork...
