My 00 Stang will crank up and cut off. The only way it will stay running is if i keep giving it gas. Any input. Is this that damn IAC sensor i hear everyone screaming about. Thanks

If it runs fine and just won't idle then IAC is your culprit most likely. I replaced mine around 80k.

I would buy a new one and slap it on. You could take it off first and try cleaning it with carb cleaner just to make sure that is the problem.

How do i clean the MAF, and IAC

I wouldn't touch the MAF until you try the IAC. I've never had a MAF problem at 95k miles. Search this forum on cleaning the IAC. You just take off the hose...two bolts...and you should see carbon buildup. You can spray carb cleaner in there and wipe it out.

It really depends on if you are using paper air filters. If you are using paper air filters then the MAF is probably fine. But why not clean it? You do have to get a tamper proof torx bit though so it is not a completely cost free fix...

Ok guys, stopped yesterday got some carb cleaner and removed and sprayed carb cleaner in both openings. Started it up and it worked fine. Well this morning go to crank it and guess what. DIES, drive it the whole way to work pumpin gthe gas at every stop. Just wouldnt stay running. Should i maybe replace it?

Replacing it fixed mine and I still think that is your problem. My car would randomly have the problem holding idle after starting and then finally got to the point where I had to keep pumping the gas at a stop. It would also occassionally die when coming to a stop after pushing the clutch in.

Cleaning is really a temporary fix. I could be wrong of course, but worth a try especially if you haven't done it before.

I would get one from Randy Stinchcomb over at ModularDepot in the Ford Parts forum.

Just create an account over there and look at the Ford Parts forum. You can send Randy Stinchcomb a private message asking him for a price on a new IAC. He pretty much sells at their cost instead of the normal markup. That is just where I get most of my parts.

ok, i have the same problem. i put the new IAC on it and it still dies. i pulled one of the other valves off to see how dirty the t/b was and it is filthy, should i get a new t/b or is just a bad IAC and i need another one?

Im not sure if its the same problem, but mine would start up but would die if i didnt keep giving it gas. My stang had 60k at this point. I changed the fuel filter and it started right up and i havent had trouble since.

Good call check the fuel filter, if its a sensor i would think it would throw the check engine light
