Start switch issue

After a total rebuild I'm trying to test the electrical an have an issue. Everything BUT the actual start position works. Accy and run positions work fine but no juice to the starter relay. I tested it at the drivers side connection and I'm not getting 12V there so I know its between there and the switch. Now that I have the dash back together I dont want to take it apart. Is there any connection between the 4 pin connector over the drivers side kick panel and the switch itself? Is it possibe I screwed something up when I put in the new ignition cylinder into the ignition switch.

Any help is....well a big help!

There should be a connector for the neutral safety switch in the engine compartment on the firewall near the accelerator pedal.

On manual cars the under-dash NS connectors were just plugged together.

Did you try reversing the two small wires at the solenoid switch ?

Anyone know where that under dash NS switch loop should be? I disconnected just about everything so theres a chance I disconected it without knowing what it was. Just knowing the wiring color would be a huge help.

Also, I tested the selonoid, I can crank it from under the dash by applying 12v to the red wire in the 4 prong harness.

Unless you've got a 70's Mustang, I don't think there should be one under the dash. And with a 60's Stang, you shouldn't have had to take the dash apart to change the switch. At least not on a 65-68 Stang.

If you look on the right side of the schematic, you can see the connectors where the NS switch is connected under the dash, via the 7A247 harness that goes through the firewall. On manual trans cars, these under-dash connectors simply plug together, eliminating neutral safety, and completing the circuit. If you ahve left these unconnected, not knowing they were there, your "START" circuit cannot work.

You guys are the best!!! Thank you so much!!! That saved me a ton of time and aggrivation. I didn't connect the trans harness and yes it has a loop as the car was originally an automatic. Plug it in and clck goes the selinoid
