well tonight i went to start up the car but it wouldnt turn over

battery showed good voltage, even tried to jump it but it wouldnt turn over

i can crank it over by hand so i know things are moving freely in there

the first time i tried it clicked twice and the rest of the times got nothing... its a bran new starter too(only had it for about a month) did i blow some kind of fuse? i dont even know where to start looking

Do your headlights stay nice and bright for 30 seconds or so?

One can use a jumper cable to augment a ground or the power connection to the distribution block (be real careful with the latter).

Since you get a little chunking noise, the starter interlock (clutch safety switch/neutral safety switch) should be passing current.

Good luck.

well my car came with an auto in it and theres no more neutral safety switch

it worked the other day i think tis either a bad connection or a fuse.. what fuses deal with that?

i was pulling my drivers side valve cover and had disconnected the alt to get a lil more clearence and i didnt notice the negative batt connection was touching and got a nice lil spark show but it was from the alt wire to the alt

Sorry - the crystal ball in my avatar must not be working very well.

The alt has like a 20 amp fuse in the underhood fuse box and there is a starter relay IIRC in the same underhood fusebox. I dont recall a specific fuse just for the starter, nor would you be getting any noise when trying to start, if it blew.

I would have to look at some schematics to find more. gotta go eat dinner.

Good luck.

you might also want to check the relay in the high amp fuse box. you can check it by switching it with the one for your fog lights. see your owner's manual to see the locations.

figured it out, it was a bad ground...

ran a ground from one of the starter bolts to the chasis and it worked

Nice work. Upgrading the motor to chassis ground should help as well.

Good luck.
