Will a starter from 88 Bronco with 5.0 and 5 speed work on a older 289/302 engine with a C4?

All small block starters should be interchangeable if I remember correctly. The wiring may be slightly different but that should not be a problem at all.

ummm some of them are built to engage the flywheel deeper. just pull the old stang one and compare it to the bronco one.... Pay attention to how far the horn around the gear sticks out on both.
