I'm currently trying to replace my starter on my "99 GT, and have run into a small hickup if you will. There are three bolts that hold on the starter and I can only get to one of them. Does anyone know how to access the other two. The two that I cannot get to or even feel are the one on the top and the one on the passenger side of the car. There is only a small opening to fit your hand up in there to get at the starter. I've tried taking off the passenger side front wheel and still cannot see the bolts I need to get at. Is there some sort of trick to this or what am I missing here.

Any help would be much appreciated!!! Thanks.

Jag.

Yep, you have to go through the engine mount on the K-member and use about 3.5ft of extensions with swivel on the end. You do not need that top bolt. I havent had three starter bolts on my car for years.

Buy a new swivel to. A warn out one will just collapse as you are running it through. Or use the old trick and tape the swivel so it stays firm.

+1 on the tape trick. I ended up using a quarter inch drive socket, swivel, and extensions with a 3/8 adapter and ratchet. Worked out pretty well.
