Shoot it......put it out of its misery. Could it be the battery?

That would be one hell of a dead battery.

The only temp. fix I can think of is push starting it.

OK ..sorry...a weak battery?
As far as push starting....not with the neutral safety switch engaged on the clutch.

Well, push it, get going, and drop the clutch. That's how my friend did it, anyway. I tried it and couldn't get it to work. Anyway, I know it's not the battery because I had the headlights, fog lights, dome light, interior lights, and CD player all going at once. Oil's fine and only about 500 miles old. Banging on it with a hammer didn't work. I guess I'll just replace the starter.

Unless cleaning/replacing the solenoid would work. Thoughts?

Are the cable connections clean at the battery/starter areas. I had situations where the battery had juice, lights, radio, accessories worked, but the cable connections(bat posts, starter connection) had corrosion and the starter could not get enough juice to crank. Just a suggestion.
and for the record..Most modern cars will not push start popping the clutch.

What ricer mods? The only real mods are the K&N and the tires. Everything else is either fake (all the blinker parts) or just something I felt like listing as a joke (antenna and rearview).

@ xseler8:
I'll pull the starter and look around when I get a chance. All I can tell you, though, is that this problem happened suddenly. It ran fine all day, but when I started it up the night the problem arose, it ran for about a second, stalled, and started making that sound and failing to start.

It will pust start. Just push it as fast as you and a few buddies can with the car in first and the clutch in. When it is going as fast as they can get it, pop the clutch as fast as you can and it should start. Oh yeah, key in the on position.

It could be the starter and most likely is. But, poor connections will effect starter cranking. Good luck...let us know.

Yep, dead battery. Charging it for now. Any suggestions on a good enough battery until I can get a Dyna-Batt?
