Ok so here we go... I have an 81 capri, started as a v6 car, now has a 302 that is "bored 30 over" so the former owner says. Not sure really. well I got ahead of myself and decided id go ahead and throw a huge intake (parker fw) on top with a 650cfm on top and headman shortys, put it all back together and found tons of water in the oil so now im tearing it down again, couldnt find why. maybe because my "buddy" decided to cut the side tabs off the intake gasket front and back and water was spraying all over the place, maybe some got in the valley and leaked down. Either way im back down to bare block with what i think are stock pistons. (big circle in center with cut outs for valve clearance) I have a set of E7TE heads with some pocket porting and proform roller rockers, and the stock G50E heads pulled off the motor. Now my question is...Looking for a decent top end, without breaking the bank. I want to run at least 350 to the wheels and still be able to run the streets. was thinking mild cam, gt40p's, same headers and carb. now i have the fw intake still and an edelbrock performer. SOMEONE HELP!

Your idea for your budget build is a good. But, if you go with gt40p heads your current headers wont work. You will have clearance issues between the sparkplug and hearder. I would go with a b303 cam, gt40 heads, or gt40p if you get the right headers, after that do a port job on the heads and intake. That should put you close to your 350 mark or at least in the ball park. Im in the same bout as you are as far as a budget build goes. There is a thread on here but i cant remember what it's called but it's full of junkyard parts that are good to look for. Great for guys like us that are on a budget. I hope this helps you little.

Thanks, that does help because im the type of guy that will go out and buy something without looking into it and end up just replacing more than I started out to. Also considering a c4-t5 swap, looked into it a little and seems like quite a chore. Well anyway if you come up with any creative tricks let me know! thanks!

No Problem. I had to scrounge around just to get what I have now. lol! I have an 86 302 out of an F-150 with a summit racing street/strip stage 1 intake and summit racing street/stripp 600cfm carb. I have a C4 backing that up. I am planning on building a 347 or 408 in the future to put in mine!

For my next build im wanting to build a 347 stroker with a lunati voodoo cam, afr 185 heads w/72cc combustion chambers. I am also wanting to put a 69/70 shaker scoop on it too! I think that would be pretty badass! But that build will definitley not happen over night! Lol!

You aren't going to be anywhere near 350rwhp.
With a b cam and gt40p's you may be lucky to get 250rwhp.

If the shortblock is a 302-306 pretty much no matter what you buy, you are not getting 350 to the tire.
Even if you bought the best parts money could buy, it's still not easy.
