starting problems

Well, I am having a load of problems. First off, my car was idleing at the stoplight, then I noticed the car almost dying, and the battery gauge going all over the place. Then, I tried to start my car and it took like 8 tries before I could get it to crank over almost like when the battery is dead. Then whenever i roll down my windows, the battery gauge is always going towards the red zone at 0. What does this sound like? Maybe a bad alternator or a bad battery? Maybe a short? Please help.

Sounds like the alternator. If you can start it up again disconnect the battery after you have it running and see what happens. If it dies then your altrernator isn't any good.

Never, Never disconnect the battery from the alternator while the engine is running :( :( :(

The loss of load can cause the alternator to put out excessive voltage and spikes that can fry the computer & other electronic equipment. AutoZone & most big auto parts stores will check your alternator & battery for free right in the car.
