Steeda Vs. Eibach Prokit

Hello, I was wondering if anyone can help me on lowering springs? I read up on Eibach and Steeda they both declare good hanfdling and a better ride. Only the Steeda lowes the car an inch and the Eibach lowers the car about 1.5 inches, so my question which is better is there any preferances? Also would it be necessary to change shocks and struts too? I'm in college and have a budget to work with, any advice would be thankful.

You should change your Struts/Shocks when you lower your car. The Tokico Mach 1's are popular.
Another advice is to get an alignment after 1 to 2 weeks after lowering the car.
Now, which is better? I don't know. Just do a search in here on both and you should find some comments to work with.

i just got the "c" springs from FRPP and i couldnt be happier with them. and on-sale @ mustangtuning.com for 130 how could u go wrong

DO not waste your money on steeda springs, dont get me wrong they are a great spring and do good things.... but... the ford C spring is identical to the steeda's and heck probably even gives a little more of a drop for FAR less of a price, the c springs are 100 bucks...

If you go more than 1.3 inchs you will run into alignment issues and strut/shock wearing out faster

If you drop your car more than 1.3 inch go with H&R they are very good springs, and if you do go with more than 1.3 inches of drop you will need cc plates along with a set of struts/shocks (they will be fine for a bit but... they will wear out alot faster than a 1.2 inch or so drop so just remember sooner or later they will need replacing)

if you want good handeling get a 600+ rate spring for the front AT LEAST some eicachs are around 450... which is sad when it comes to handeling springs.

BTW the 05 in your name, does that mean you have a new 05? If so, then I would not obey to what any of us said because your car has quite a different suspension setup being a 'new' line of 'Stangs. If not, then never mind.

I have owned 2 mustangs and the FMS-C springs and the steeda springs are not the same springs. The height and ride are totally different. I perferred the steeda ride. Remember, you pay for what you get.

I read that you don't have to get a cc kit when you use the c-springs because it won't lower it enough to throw it out of whack. Also, do you have to get new shocks and struts with the c-springs?

NO you dont have to get new shocks/struts but it would be advised. I have been running stock shocks/struts for 2 years now and it is not the best ride but doable. I am in the process of changing to the Mach 1 setup. You can find them at www.fordpartsnetwork.com or at www.gefracing.com Call GERacing for their prices may be cheaper talking to someone. A friend of mine got the rear shocks for only 29 bucks with taxes.

If your looking for a nice drop for the lowest price, just do what I did. Buy Ford C springs and then find yourself a set of used GT shocks and struts (total cost of springs/struts/shocks= $170). Then get an alignment and poof!, your done.

the rates are the same and that pretty much determines ride.... as far as springs influence goes. I have rode in cars equiped with everything from steeda to H&R to coil overs the steeda and the fms c are so close they are pretty much identical, even if there was a difference i would go C springs just for the price alone...

If you REALLY want to do it right go with h&r

Are you lowering for looks or handling advantage?

My reasons for lowering a car would be for the benefit of improved cornering (as well as a nicer stance). I'm looking to get a tubular K-kit up front with Bilstiens, coilovers, and CC plates. I want much improved handling with an adjustable ride so that I can drive comfortably and then race hard on the track or road course. I may have to wait to save for these parts, but when I get them I know I'll be happy with them.

Find a number that you want to spend on an aspect of your car (ex. handling, looks, engine, etc.). Then look for the parts in that range and see what people have to say about them.

You seem to want to spend a few dollars to lower your car. I've been told to first lower than rims rather than the other way around, so your on the right track. You have compartively shoped and are asking for whats better. The question I originally posed was:"Are you lowering for looks or handling advantage?" Answering this will help you better achieve your answer.

Since we are on the topic

I was looking into some strut / spring packages myself this weekend and found the TOKICO HP SHOCKS & SPRINGS for a decent price. Does anyone know anything about this package? I've heard nothing but good things about Tokico struts, but how about the springs? For the price, can I get a better combination of struts and springs? The reason why I want to drop the car is primarily for handling.

this is what my brother did on his 01' GT Vert (taken from his website)

"I installed the Steeda G-Trac Stage 1 kit. It includes Steeda Sport Springs, lowering the car almost an inch and half. A Steeda Strut Tower brace was included, along with Steeda 3-bolt Camber/Caster Plates. Along with the kit, I bought and installed 2 Rear Tokico Blue Hi Performance shocks in the rear."

I had no idea what he hod on there, i thought it was tokico all the way around... one would imagine a "Steeda G-Trac kit" would cost alot more (he just left to go back to college after thanksgiving brake an hour ago)

Hey Thanks for all the feedback....You guys are so helpful. I Have a 98 Mustang convertible and the new 05, (which is half my dads and have mine) Im not adding mods to it soon ill wait to see what comes out in the market for awhile. I want to my convertible a litle bit for looks because Im adding the the cervinis front bumper the one from the stalker kit. As we speak my mustang has stock so i figure i can make it look aggresive by dropping it a bit im also adding the 18inch cobra rims too. I dont want to break the bank that much because to tell you guys the truth im also in need of, a new hood, rigth fender,back bumper, and 2 new air bags...My younger bro took my car out and got into an accient with a flat bed truck lucky for us we only paid $1500 for damages to the truck and for my mustang had no insurance at the time because I was in school and no one was suppose to drive it till I came back about 1yr later....but they did... so my priority is to fix my car and at the same time lower since im doing all these changes. So any advise or comments would be helpful. Sorry i know its quite long but you guys been so helpful I just wanted to let you guys know what my situation is.
