My Steeda Tri-ax seems to be getting Louder??
Is there anything that can be done to make the shifter shut the hell up?
I know the stock shifter was quiet?
Why is this?

I read another post on this and someone used an insilator of some kind around the seals and it reduced it to almost the same amount of noise the stock shifter made.. Search the forums for tri-ax

The stock shifter has bushings in it to quieten the transmission noise. Makes that shifter more sloppy though. Mine is not bad. You may try to put some rubber between the handle where it bolts togeter. The metel to metal right there probably causes part of the noise.

now that I look at the stock i can see a Rubber gasket between the two!

Well I cheated I put the stock rubber boot back on even thou it said NOT TO?
I mean why not?
It's like a seal from the road noise why would steeda tell you not ot put it back on??

I think it would take away the accuracy from the Steeda............

Ok I got it fixed!
I took a 1/4" peice of rubber and slapped it between the shifter and the handle and then a couple of longer bolts and Wala!
Worked like a school girl on prom night!

Dude,

a 1/4" piece??? you probably could have used something as thick as a bicycle inner tube. Something just thick enough to separate the two pieces of metal. I would figure that with a piece of rubber that thick you would end up getting more slop from the flexibilty of that much rubber. If you don't like the way it feels after a week, you might want to try something thinner.

Thanks But I got it REAL tight and it's fine And there is NO SLOP~
Maybe 1/4" was not the righ size but around there..
It's all I have in the shop to work with and I think it will be FINE!

Yea I put the stock boot back on too. Did you and 03Sleeper use the upper position or the lower when you installed the handle? Just curious, I used the upper (short arms i guess??).

I would be little worried if you think it's getting louder. About a week after I put mine on I noticed it getting louder too. Not long after that I found that I was unable to shift in to 2nd, 4th, or reverse. Turns out the stop bolts had come loose and rotated in stopping the shifter from going in to gear. The increased noise I heard was because the gears were only half way ingaged. I realized the problem, drove home without the lower gears and fixed it with some loc-tight. Just a though, still loud though, think I might try that rubber boot idea.

Ya I put Gasket sealer on the bolts so they woun't back out!
I also put gasket selaer around the WHOLE shifter plate and tranny.
I'm sure it's going to be fine!
As soon as I put the rubber on..HA HA HA it was fine!

Stock rubber thingy works fine for me.. the bottom bolt kinda chewed off a little piece of it on the lower setting but I'm happy with it so what the heck.

Guys when you put the stock boot back on does it fit over the seeda easily or is it a pain. My tri- ax is still in the box awaiting install when i take my car out for the summer. So any tips would be great . The directions do say something about puting the boot back on if you choose too. ?

I have no idea why they tell you not to it fits FINE!

I also put the stock rubber inner boot back on and it works fine. The noise is pretty much what the stock shifter was. It slides over the Tri-Ax just fine, you have to stretch it a little to get it over the shifter handle bolts.
